After screening potential investments against our criteria, MTP begins with preliminary research of the firm and industry together with management and outside consultants (as necessary). We focus our attention on the market potential of the company's business activity and also look at the management and organization of the company. We ask ourselves if the company has the personnel and professionals required for success after the injection of new capital. Then we analyze the legal obligations and arrangements of the company and consider financing structures and terms.
As both our time and that of our potential portfolio companies is valuable, we try to deliver a quick response. Once an acquisition or joint venture is completed, MTP participates actively on the board of directors of the company, leaving the day-to-day operations to the entrepreneurs of the company.
